A couple of weeks ago I managed to get over to North Wales with Tim Evans, for a quick blast on the Black Ladders. I had wedding duties the following day so we picked the relatively straightforward Central Gully (seen here as right hand line).
The route is a classic grade III gully and we couldn't have picked a better day for it. Bomber neve most of the way!
Despite the brilliant condition of the snow, there wasn't a lot of it! This made the cave pitch fairly interesting... Often this would be banked out, hence the grade III, but we had to climb a direct mixed line straight through. Bloody great pitch, but came close to flying several times!
And then home in time for wedding stuff! God I love North Wales!
